Building The Man
There I sat in the room over my garage with shingles at the ripe old age of 25. We had just had our first child. I had just become a partner in my family’s clothing business. The recession of 2008 was in full swing, and I was broke in every definition of the word.
I distinctly remember sitting there by myself, quarantined away from my new born daughter and wife, and crying.
How did I get here?
The truth was I had been running the facade game of seeming like I had my shit together, but the truth of the matter was I was a hot mess.
I was over leveraged, under producing and had made some bad choices.
I was working seven days a week, never fully present regardless of where I was, and to say it was a shit show would be an understatement.
I vowed at that moment I would never be in this position again.
In that moment, I chose to come to grips that it didn’t matter how things looked on the outside. That true power came from the inside and that the exterior was only a reflection of what was really going on.
After working with a multitude of coaches and mentors I finally found a formula that worked for me. Over the last three years, I have taught hundreds of men this formula. Some of them have taken the framework and applied it with great results.
Others have squandered what they have learned and haven’t executed.
The ones who haven’t executed are in the exact same spot (or worse) than when they started.
The ones who have taken action…well, they aren’t the same human beings as they were before the journey began.
So this is where we begin…
“How do you build the man?”
That is the question we are going to be answering.
“And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.” Luke 2:52
This piece of Scripture gives us a blueprint for the four dimensions a man should focus on.
Being
First, there is the element of wisdom. This has to do with the mental/spiritual aspect of a man. Moving forward we will call this Being.
Body
Second, there is the element of stature. Physical stature. Jesus grew in size and strength. Moving forward we will call this Body.
Business
Third, we have the element of favor with man. This includes women. This snippet refers to both our relationships and business. Which is how many men define success, we will call this Business.
Balance
For relationships, we are going to focus on your immediate family, friends, coworkers and all other relationships that you have in the marketplace. We will call this Balance.
These four dimensions will be referenced as the Core 4 moving on from this point forward.
Most men have one, maybe two of these domains locked in and thriving. However, there aren’t many men that have all four rocking at any given time.
What we will be addressing is how to focus and build success on your terms in each of these four areas.
Stay tuned as we take a deep dive into each one so that you create your ideal life…
